Adding an Email address to Gmail

So you’ve found the perfect domain name, and you’ve setup an email address using that domain name.  Now you want to be able to send emails from Gmail using that address.

Here’s how to add email accounts to use to send emails in Gmail.

In Gmail:
•    At the top right of your screen, choose Settings. This opens a box which has all of the settings for your Gmail account.
•    At the top of this box, choose Accounts and Import.
•    At Send mail as: Click on Send mail from another address. This opens a pop-up window.
•    Fill in Name. This will be the name that people receiving your email will see.
•    Fill in Email. This is the email address that the person receiving your email will see.
•    On the SMTP server setup screen, choose Send through Gmail.  Click Next Step.
•    You will then see a notice about Gmail’s requirement to verify your account.
•    Click on Send Verification and Gmail will send you the verification number needed to complete this process to the email address you are setting up.
•    Open a new browser window to check your emails for the Confirmation Code. If you’ve already forwarded the email account to Gmail, then the notice will arrive in your Gmailbox. If not, you will need to go to the mailbox where the email is received.
•    Either enter the Confirmation Code in the box and click Verify or use the Link in the email Gmail sent you to verify the account.

In order to use this email address, in Gmail, click Compose Mail to start a new email. Then click on the arrow next to the From box. You should have a drop down menu showing your available email addresses.

One last thing, return to Gmail Settings.
Under Send Mail as: Change your When receiving a message: to Reply from the same address the message was sent to. This lets you automatically reply using whatever email address your mail came from. In other words, the person receiving your response will recognize the sender making it less likely that your response will end up in their Spam box.

Also, on this same page, if you wish to change your default email address, you can click Make Default in blue next to the email address you want as your default address.
